Antigua citizenship

Now Antigua citizenship can be bona-fide with the help of programs launched by Dominica common wealth. It is also going to be known as the sovereign state. According to the various programs launched by the government namely Antigua and Barbuda Economic citizenship Act 2012, the international investors who can:

1.  Got approximately 400K dollar or,
2. Those who are qualified in real estate or,
3. Have contributed round about 250K dollar to the national development funds or,
4.  Given donation to charitable institutes of about 250K dollar or,
5. Invested 1.5 million dollar in any local business will be given the citizenship of Antigua.

Since the citizenship is given, they can get passport of Antigua. This proposal is although similar to other economic citizenship programs that are offered in neighboring states or cities like St. Kitts. This includes the need of applicants which have got through the stringent and due diligence process. The main difference between St. Kitts citizenship and Antigua citizenship is that St Kitts is not offering any the option of investment in local business. Also additionally at the time of getting Antigua citizenship one needs to go through an interview which is not in St Kitts. Furthermore the citizens of Antigua will have to spend minimum70 days in the same which should be included in the period of 5 years after getting Antiguan nationality. If they have not done so then they won’t fit in the category of renewing their passport. 

Antigua government now is hoping to generate their revenue by above 200 million dollars as soon as the first three programs are launched. A bill was passed by Antigua House of Representatives. In this bill there were some things to be executed like: Reconstruction of requirements, requirement of reconstruction of physical residence and also maintaining that passport renewability. When Antigua gave this proposal many opponent parties raised some issues. They had a fear regarding the investors getting citizenship and getting a hold on many things. Even there was a fear of restricting citizens of Antigua for travelling free of visa to various places like European Union and Canada. After doing a lot by Antigua government still there are many properties on which Antigua citizenship is not given.
